　　今天，無處不在的開源操作系統(tǒng)Linux迎來了它的24歲生日。

　　1991年8月25日(北京時間8月26日)，來自芬蘭赫爾辛基大學的Linus Torvalds在usenet的comp.os.minix新聞組中發(fā)布了Linux的***個公告，宣布了Linux的誕生。當時Linus Torvalds年僅21歲，身份還只是一名大學生，系統(tǒng)的制作從當年4月起就開始了。

　　在該年的九月，Linux Kernel 0.01發(fā)布到了芬蘭大學和研究網(wǎng)(FUNET)上的一個FTP服務器(ftp.funet.fi)。當時僅有10239行代碼，到了十月，又發(fā)布了0.02版本。

　　之前，也有人認為Linux的生日是9月17日，因為當天Linus才正式公布了系統(tǒng)的名字。然而，經(jīng)過后來的一番確認，目前普遍認為應該以Linux***次出現(xiàn)在郵件中的時間為準，而那天正是8月25日。

　　Hello everybody out there using minix -

　　I'm doing a (free) operating system (just a hobby, won't be big and

　　professional like gnu)for386(486) AT clones.This has been brewing

　　since april,andis starting to get ready. I'd like any feedback on

　　things people like/dislike in minix, as my OS resembles it somewhat

　　(same physical layout of the file-system (due to practical reasons)

　　among other things).

　　I've currently ported bash(1.08)and gcc(1.40),and things seem to work.

　　This implies that I'll get something practical within a few months, and

　　I'd like to know what features most people would want.Any suggestions

　　are welcome, but I won't promise I'll implement them :-)

　　PS.Yes- it's free of any minix code, and it has a multi-threaded fs.

　　It is NOT protable (uses 386 task switching etc), and it probably never

　　will support anything other than AT-harddisks, as that's all I have :-(.
